You sell a product.
A good product and this product ranks well in Google, meaning when users type about it, its’ in the first page.
But alas you have a competitor.
Now this competitor wants to malign your reputation and product image in the net.
So what does this competitor do?
He creates a website and places negative reviews of your product complete with pictures and testimonials from other users of your product.
Now how will this hurt your target market when the next thing you know it shows up in the first page of Google after your search result?
Look at it this way.
You may have the number one position and the next one under you for that particular keyword is the negative site created by your competitor. Chances are your potential customers would never buy your product or not even visit your website.

So here’s a step by step approach:
Step 1. Utilize the use of Web 2.0 that is create a social networking profile. Create profiles in Facebook and LinkedIn.
Step 2. Create your own Wiki, Wikipedia is a great site to start from but another great one is Wet Paint which is fully customizable and will surely create a leverage in Google listings.
Step 3. Claim ownership of your business. That is to go to Naymz and create your profile in it. It enables you to link to your other profiles (Facebook, LinkedIn, Myspace) in the web.
