It’s been awhile since I last wrote a political commentary much less be aware of what’s happening in the country.
My everyday life revolves around working to pay the bills and saving it for the future (if that future even comes around)
What prompted me to write now is when a certain everyday habit of mine got disturbed following the painting of MMDA footbridges from pink to green.
The green being the color of the running presidentiable under the banner of the present regime.
Though I am loving the color (I always have a penchant for the color green) I still can’t take away the nagging feeling at the back of my head.
How much money is being spent just by repainting hundreds of footbridges not to mention the fences, signs, etc?
I also noticed a lot of islands created in the time of Bayani Fernando being destroyed.
Is it because after a hundred lives have been lost it is only just now that they realize how dangerous it is in placing a concrete slab almost un-seeable island in the middle of one of the major highways in the country and afterwards blaming motorists that its their fault they died because they don’t drive carefully?
Its just like blaming a woman being raped, well just because she’s at the wrong place at the wrong time and she wears sexy lingerie.
I looked at newspapers everyday though I try not to. I tell myself everyday that “No I will not be stressed by stupid people, I am above that” But when waiting for an mrt train you notice how despicable the state of the nation is by the shortage of stored value cards. Yes I don’t get it why they should regulate it when they can’t regulate the number of children being born everyday. Not that I am against families who want to have lots of children but I am against families who doesn’t know how to take care of their children.
Which brings me to what I am against.
I am against an election that is proving to be a futile practice of democracy no matter how you look at it.
I just can’t take for the world of me how people, after being fooled over and over again trust a system that have never watched out for the well being of its citizens.
That while elections are an integral part of democracy, I don’t see it working for anyone now.
Perhaps I’ve given up hope or that I want hope to spring eternal. But the grim reality which is “Might is Right” slaps me awake and tells me how important it is to be a strong force first before becoming a good catalyst for development.
I like helping people but when will the helping stop? Will the beggars help themselves? Will the poor people push themselves to work?
There should be a limit to helping.
And it should be that when you help someone you should also expect help in return.
I’d like to write more about Gibo, Noynoy, Villar and the other candidates if only people would listen.
So what do I recommend? That you don’t vote and lose that chance in practicing your right?
No.
I recommend that you practice your right to vote but never lose sight of the reason why you vote and the responsibility behind it which a lot of people have forgotten and have made me sick to my stomach.
The ball is in your hands now, you want to help then I give you the chance now.
Go help yourself.
