If Joseph Estrada would run I am 80% sure that he will win, not because he’s got the political machinery it is because Filipinos have yet to experience what really is like to be under his regime. Never underestimate the mass vote or so they say. Unfortunately the government has a trump card as exemplified by their rigging of the previous election between Fernando Poe Jr. (FPJ) and Gloria Macapagal Arroyo (GMA), not only were they able to cheat their way to office but they were also quick to blind side the people in believing that there was indeed no cheating involved.
By letting Joseph Estrada take the cudgels of the legitimately voted FPJ, couple that with being the underdog and having vindicated himself from all the corruption charges as exacted by his former vice-president, it gives a seeming telenovela ending to have the former ousted president sit back in office and have his final laugh in an I-told-you-so gesture against his former detractors. But that remains to be seen with the big “IF” the military is willing to go again under his leadership and “IF” he will never be cheated again or better yet go back to jail because of the case against him on the Bobby Dacer case.
Moving on, a very interesting conversation between me and my friends back in U.P. Cebu took place last week whereas my good friend Chris dwelt on the high probability of Noynoy Aquino running for president, he argued that Noynoy whose status being the son of two considered heroes of People power will equalize the existing political vacuum by offering a more honest election, as per his capacity to lead the country Chris ponders that he will be able to maintain the status quo albeit also being able to bring back the trust lost in the institutions as corrupted by the current administration and would eventually create an “Obama-ish” reaction for the people.
I couldn’t agree more but I have some major contentions with the idea, perhaps one of the most major ones is the candidacy of Mar Roxas whereas of current time they are thinking of having Noynoy to run as vice president instead, according to Chris, Mar would have to give way for the clamour of the people to let the son of an Aquino to continue the legacy of his parents, couple that with the intention that Noynoy will never desecrate the memory of his parents. Now that is a tough nut to crack indeed.
The only thing is the political machinery of Noynoy and the ambition of the opposition to relegate back to its former glory that was Estrada and make the current administration pay. Though the way I see it having Mar Roxas for president and Noynoy as vice president and eventually becoming President after Mar is a dream come true and perhaps one would call it wishful thinking.
So who will win this coming 2010 Philippine Presidential Elections?
As of now the surveys point at the direction of Manny Villar but isn’t that the same survey that pointed at the late Raul Roco in winning the last time?
Also never forget the youth vote of Chiz Escudero plus the never ending charisma of the “Kabayan” Noli De Castro and we’re in for a really interesting fight.

This would be the first time I vote. I consider it a privilege to give Estrada the years back these elitists took away from him.
This country needs a president who does not live by false promises. Estrada was a doer, and they hated him for not playing their game. Estrada was not perfect, but at least he did not smother us through sweet hypocrisy. He did not treat insurgents like spoiled children but criminals that needs to be taken out. He did not make deals with militia groups. He did not play the politically correctness game. That is what this country needs right now.
