Joseph Estrada to run in 2010

estradaIf Joseph Estrada would run I am 80% sure that he will win, not because he’s got the political machinery it is because Filipinos have yet to experience what really is like to be under his regime. Never underestimate the mass vote or so they say.  Unfortunately the government has a trump card as exemplified by their rigging of the previous election between Fernando Poe Jr. (FPJ) and Gloria Macapagal Arroyo (GMA), not only were they able to cheat their way to office but they were also quick to blind side the people in believing that there was indeed no cheating involved.

The Demise of the University Of the Philippines Educational System

DSC03898After  11 years I was able to go back to U.P. Cebu College and as I was traipsing around the campus a lot of changes got my attention albeit some of them positive nonetheless a lot of them negative.

One of the most alarming things I noticed is the dwindling number of students in the campus, one of the major reasons I can come up with is the astronomical rise of tuition in the University, as compared before to the 200 pesos per unit it is now a stunning  1000 pesos per unit.  Another bothering thing that I noticed after talking with some of the faculty is that regardless of the rise in tuition there is no difference in the amount of compensation a professor could get.  To note a good professor friend of mine had to wait ten years to even have a raise in salary.
