Yesterday I went to a Smart wireless center and asked if its possible to relocate my broadband connection, they said yes but I have to pay my maintaining balance with them which is 996 pesos. You see this company offers you a free installation fee at first and a minimum of 999 pesos for an internet connection which is free for the first month but thing is they bill you a month earlier so when your bill comes to you it is actually twice the amount you wanted.
I told them I can pay for the relocation fee of 1000 pesos but not for the balance which I haven’t used yet. They said they cannot continue with the installation if I didn’t pay the balance. Which is really weird because the fact that I want to have it relocated means I want to continue my subscription but as I see it a relocation and paying your bills are completely different.
And by the way the original fee for relocation was 1,450 pesos meaning they will be the ones to take out the antenna on my roof and relocate it and reinstall it but i pull it out myself and let them just reinstall it, they will charge me for only 1000 pesos. Now you mean to tell me I am going to pay for something as easy as pulling out an antenna? So i figured it is better and more cheaper to pull it out myself, and indeed I was able to pull it out myself so I saved 450 pesos.
Now talking about the speed of their internet connection, they offer 999 pesos for a 384 kbps speed while their competitor offers the same price for a 1 mbps speed and I’ve been their customer since October last year. So i asked them if its possible that they will have a 1 mbps as their competitor already offers it, they said “They are Globe sir, and upgrading our speed is still a work in progress.”
I told them I want to cancel my subscription and they told me I have to pay for the remaining months as well even after the cancellation, but their competitor only asks for 2000 pesos for a cancellation fee. Now how stupid is that?
Now if you’re wondering why I got their plan it was because my friends told me that they are way better than their other competitors, but now ‘m regretting this decision I find them taking advantage of their customers by offering a very slow connection plus a not so justifiable reason for an account cancellation.
Take my word I will never use smart anymore, and I will tell my friends never to avail of their services. You just lost another faithful customer, and this customer is really pissed.
Come october i’ll definitely sign up to your competitor. So there.

haaay nako i sooo agree.
Smart Bro worked great for me naman not until months ago, around Sept. i think, i can’t connect to the internet na. I called them and they responded immediately (in fairness to them). The thing is, they can’t do anything about my internet connection coz for some weird reason, my antenna can’t get any signal na. So there, I had no choice but to cancel subscription.
But i needed internet so I went to the Smart Wireless Center in Megamall to just transfer my subscription to their wireless plug-in plan. After waiting for hours I was told that I can not avail of it and that i would need A LOT of requirements including how much salary i have..etc. The lady said “it’s a two-year contract po kasi” and i was like “Miss i’ve been using your service for 4 years or more and i was never late in paying.” in fact, I should even get a rebate from them since I paid for the service even when it wasn’t working anymore. Nakakainis tlga.
And to make it even worse, Smart keeps sending me a billing statement, even threatening me about bringing the matter to the courts na. The nerve!! sila pa nga may utang sa akin eh! ugh!
So yeah until now, i still don’t have internet at home. i got super pissed at them that i gave up trying.
thanks for sharing your experience Jo, I certainly hope that other people get to read this so Smart will never get to victimize more people…
weird… i have smartbro and ok naman sha up to now, more than a year na rin cguro ako naka-subscribe sa kanila..
Worst na nangyari is nag-down ung system nila or may gnagawa daw at nag down ang net ng isang buong gabi pero kinabukasan ok na naman..
I agree to that.
Almost similar experience. I was one of the “pioneer” subscribers, way back 2005. The only difference is I am outside the cut-off period. It took me 8 months, 16 visits to smart wireless in MoA at 4 different time periods (morning, early afternoon, late afternoon and near closing) to refund my money because relocation didn’t pushed through due to technical issues.
