I heard of Cynthia Alexander way back in the 90′s, I guess she was a very popular artist back then but lately did I realize how well she really played. I mean you can only hear as much in FM stations back then as the 90′s was the time when real musicians were roaming the streets. I consider the 90′s as the ultimate culmination of all that was musically good from all the years before that, unfortunately it had to end.
But then it was Cynthia Alexander that stole the limelight at a time when Eraserheads was already starting to loose its hold in the music industry and other bands little by little fell down and succumbed to obscurity. It is safe to say that it was Cynthia Alexander and her music that made the music industry worth listening to.
Her lyrics and music and the way she sings are what keeps her apart from other artists. And as soon as I appreciated Joni Mitchell I clearly heard the distinction and where she got her influence from.
I was able to watch her with my girlfriend a few saturdays ago and as we were amazed with th way she tunes her guitar as if its another language for her she exemplified a seeming calmness and femininity that only a few musicians could manifest.
I was surprised by my girlfriend being that we were also celebrating our monthsary she bought me the two cd’s of Cynthia Alexander and had them signed by hers truly.
I think you have to watch her to completely appreciate her. You can catch her at conspiracy garden cafe. Here’s their schedule for this month of march.
