A friend of mine who has connections with research firms in the country told me that whenever agencies asks research firms to make a study on possible presidentiables they still include the name of the former President Estrada and surprisingly he always win unanimously whether in Luzon, Visayas or Mindanao.
So whether he runs or blesses another candidate to run under his banner is something worth watching out, but then again there’s the issue of cheating using generals and the commission on elections itself by the incumbent government.
On the other hand who are the next possible presidentiables?
Another popular name comes up, Vice-president Noli De Castro is one of the most winnable if not the most legible (if the government would want to have the election look credible)to run under the banner of the government and as for Bayani Fernando who has time and again used his influence in the MMDA in campaigning may well better keep his position or better yet be a vice president under Noli De Castro if Loren Legarda will not run as VP to give at least a tinge of credibility in service parading his works in the MMDA to note.
So what about the opposition?
A grat contender would be Manny Villar with the blessing of Estrada and under him will be Mar Roxas to further strengthen the “masa” mass appeal having Mr. Palengke and Mr. Sipag at tyaga hand in hand coupled with the Jeep ni Erap will be more than hard to beat.
Ping Lacson will always remain as a nuisance candidate (perhaps paid by the government itself while spying for the opposition but still we can always surmise the most incredible of all for the guy having his stellar record of politicking in and out of office).
Pia Cayetano may run as vice president but might as well consider bowing down and giving way to Mar Roxas if she really is her fathers’ daughter.
The opposition can never run without Villars money and Roxas’ credibility if they want to go against the massive cheating being brewed by the government.
As for Chiz Escudero he might as well serve first as a senate president and prove himself more before eyeing the presidency.
If theres’ one thing that differs us from americans is our propensity to accept cheating as a way of life, what better way to face it than preparing for it, don’t you think?
