Its’ 2 am and I am about to go to sleep when I read and listened about Mr. Gary Granada’s complaint against GMA 7 a leading media network in the country and which I also once became part of.
I listened to his 14 minute complaint and presentation through the internet and I have to say without batting an eyelash that he has more than enough reason to file a case against the network.
What little he did for doing something he loves doesn’t measure up to the injustice the network extended to him and his musical expertise that is almost short of murdering the artists’ spirit and crushing a musicians soul.
Though I have to admit that I am ignorant of all the musical jargon altogether mentioned in the audio complaint of Mr. Granada, the consequences and the aftermath of the said events further pushed the admission of guilt on the side of the ones who had the bigger slice of the cake.
A “collective” effort versus a “musical genius coupled with 30 years of experience” isn’t something to fondly ignore not to mention using the lyrics of that same genius for the benefit of ones “philantropic” ends.
It is more ridiculous than plagiarism to say the least more damnable like stealing the ballots in an election though that is another story, but yes almost comparable to that. In this GMA 7 stole the lyrics and the musicians’ hardwork, in stealing a ballot they steal a nations soul, oh but yes it was GMA too by the way though it stands by the name Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
Mr. Granada also stated the following: “What is now stopping anyone from commissioning artists in general to make studies only to reject them, make easily done modifications out of their hard work and pass them off as entirely new creations altogether?”
Mr. Granada could’ve easily stated though in another tone: “What is now stopping anyone from commissioning voters in general to vote for their leader only to reject them, make easily done modifications out of their choices and pass them off as entirely new ballots altogether?”
The parallelism never ends there as GMA 7 states that the finished product was a “collective” effort between them and Mr. Granda, GMA also states that her winning the election is also a collective effort between Garci’s men and us as well.
So whats next? What do we do about this? What does Mr. Granada asks of us people who listened intently to his complaint? Do we just listen and pass it off as some product of a bitter artists mind? Or are we going to resist this injustice done against this honest worker living off from something that he dearly loves-playing music.
I personally don’t know Mr. Granada but I adhere to what Edmund Burke stated “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.”
So I am asking everyone who really has a heart of a “kapuso” and being one of them former “kapuso” myself that we give GMA 7 a chance to redeem themselves and have this wrong righted.
But as for the Cheater President GMA lets make a good example out of her.
Heres a copy of Mr. Granada’s complaint.
