In a strange twist of fate The almighty has allowed the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos have a chat in a small cafe in heaven to talk about the situation of the Philippines with his arch-nemesis Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, taking their coffees in adequate sips; What transpired were as follows:
N: So it has come to this huh?
M: What do you mean Ninoy?
N: Seeing you right now it seems like you’re doing well.
M: I’m not sure myself Ninoy all I can remember is the face of my beloved Imelda before I died… then it was all black.
N: Black? you mean just black? You don’t remember seeing God or being in heaven or hell? Or whatever’s in between?
M: I really don’t know perhaps I was erased or I didn’t exist at all after that episode. Perhaps when you really are a bad person, you get to be deleted from memory or the universe’s memory or so I think.
N: I personally don’t think God would do that.
M: What do you think God did to me Ninoy?
N: I think you disappeared for a while and then God got you back to have a look at what you did and that you can think about it and then feel sorry about them.
M: Feel sorry… maybe you’re right and as sure as I can look at you now, Isn’t it impossible to think that right now you are my personal hell?
N: No No No! (Arms stretched outward waving) I think I’m as real as you can see and I sure am Ninoy the one you had murdered you see… I found out about it way before I got assassinated…
M: So you Knew… and yet you came back… I… I’m…
N: I already forgave you even before I was also assassinated Makoy.
M: I don’t really mean… I mean… I was powerful and stuff… I can rule the country longer and make it purer without the Reds..
N: Makoy look at me. Do you think I can still have a say in all this? I surrendered everything to God before I died so you don’t have to tell me these things, besides we’re already dead…
M: Oh. Yah… Right. But I really am sorry.
N: It’s alright Makoy. (smiles)
M: Perhaps after this I’ll disappear again, and I’ll never have this conversation. Nobody would remember me, nobody will think of me, nothing that I did will be honored. I am helpless now. I can never be the same as before.
N: Its’ never the same when you’re dead Makoy. Once you’re dead you’re dead and that’s it. And everything we did when we were alive will remain the same as we left them.
M: Yes… and what about our country? What about Bong-bong? my grand-children and my wife?
N: I think they are all fine, come lets go to the bar and look at the television lets ask if they can give us an idea of what is happening with our loved ones. (both walked to the bar and sat on stools.)
Angel: What can I help you with my good friends?
N: Could we have a look at our loved ones my good Angel?
M: Yes, yes I’d like to see my wife and family… and country…
(The Angel looked at Ninoy and smiled then looked at Marcos and frowned a bit)
Angel: I remember you… yes I can say you did a lot of painful things for everyone back then.
N: Uhmm.. Dear Angel please he’s my guest I wish not to offer him any discomfort.
Angel: Ah yes yes, pardon me dear sir, It was just those kids were my… (looked down and immediately looked up and smiled at Ninoy) Okay I think the person upstairs has more lot to say about this so anyway my apologies let me present you with what’s happening in your country now.
(switches channel in a big flat screen and showed the church of Quiapo)
Angel: Well here’s the remote as you can see there are categories in them springing from news to technology to all issues. Just press the button and you’re there the relatives buttons are on the upper middle left part because you see that is where the heart is. (winks)
N: (Handed the remote to Marcos) Here have the first channel.
M: No, no, you go first, I owe you your life you go ahead.
N: Okay then. (switched the remote and it showed Luneta)
M: I wonder where Rizal is right now, is he here?
N: Oh yes he is, in fact we had dinner last night, you should listen to his stories, his time surely was a very interesting one. Oh there he is! Oi! Jose! (waving)
Rizal walked on to the bar.
R: Oh so it is Marcos after all nice to meet you.
M: Hello Mr. Rizal.
R: Please just call me Jose, I’m not used to the distinctions really.
N: So Jose where have you been?
R: I went to the divine courtyard, and I had a talk with Karl Marx.
N: He’s here?!
R: Yes he is why are you so surprised?
N: I also need to talk to him. He needs to known what his ideas did to our poor country.
R: No need. Its all part of the divine plan you should know that.
N: Indeed… The divine plan.
M: Excuse me so you mean to say that I am also in the divine plan? And what plan is that?
R: (Looked at Marcos) Seriously? You don’t know?
M: I was in limbo or whatever that is perhaps I was in hell but yes I don’t know of the plan.
