The first I heard of Bayani Fernando (BF) was when he was mayor of Marikina and how an old professor of mine who also hails from there has been eyeing him as the only one credible to run for Vice-president or better yet as President of the entire country.
He argues that for one he has the political will to put things into place and put action on making his beloved municipality better. I believe it was way back in 2000 when people were running to and fro and looking at Marikina with inspiring awe with it besting all other municipalities in the country.
The results were astounding afterwards Bayani Fernando was appointed Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chair and Department of public works and highways (DPWH) secretary by the false President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo (GMA), BF opted to resign from the DPWH chairmanship and decided to focus on his work in the MMDA.
Then goes the horror (or so the most of it)
They say when you give some people so much power, those people seem to lose their way and look at themselves as higher beings.
First he made everything that is associated to MMDA colored blue and pink which is not in the international color code of street signs, the same goes with the overpasses and bridges created by MMDA. Even houses that are associated with MMDA were colored pink and blue, then came MMDA art that shows painted people on walls colored pink and blue, then when all else are branded BF also made fences colored pink and blue.
As far as I know those colors were the favorite of his wife and himself and how they come to use it anywhere even against international standard rules I don’t know but then nobody’s complaining or if there’s anyone it becomes mired by BF’s unscathed standing before as a Mayor of Marikina, that perhaps more people were asking if he could make the same miracle he created for the people of Marikina to the whole metro manila then damned aesthetics nor proper color signs.
If he was corrupt as an MMDA chairman that is yet to be answered but little by little you will get the picture altogether.
First it was those MMDA bulletins telling people that they should remain clean or else suffer a bad looking country, I took a look at it and said it was good enough even with the still pink and blue color to it. Then came his proposed/finished projects with his face and GMA’s errmmm its good enough for others perhaps. then finally there came his face, a full blunt face as if waiting to bludgeon anyone erring in the streets thats when I felt I have to puke.
But it didn’t end there he even had to brandish his name Bayani which is translated to english as “Hero” with a flag of our country plastered on buses.
Thats when I thought about what power can do to people who were once looked upon as trustworthy and even minded.
But in fairness to BF he did something good (or something to that effect) to transportation and traffic and as to what the government can focus on deranged bus and jeepney drivers. It was able to keep traffic moving with all their U-turns, though I am not sure how much cars have crashed at those islands created in EDSA.
BF was also able to reconstruct a number of overpasses and took out its roofs in order to keep out unwanted beggars who make a living out of playing sad tunes under them. Yes he took out a number if not most of the sad looking shanties stating that its governments property and work to clear them off their places but at this point one has to consider if the above actions are appropriate because alleviation of poverty should be the main course of action so they themselves would be able to clear themselves of their miserable conditions.
I just can’t imagine where one shall put ALL of them.
Now give BF more power and make him the President of the country and may God help us.
Oh and by the way did I mention that he also had this project before that if you don’t stand in the right side of the street his MMDA crew will throw some water at you? Hmm… freaky right?

Whatever you say Floyd… its your opinion. I respect that.. But I think BF is the best of all the politicians I've ever known who wants to be a president. I can site more reason why he should be a president, but I guess its just useless to do that here.. Lets just wait what he can do to our dear country. BF is our new President in 2010….

im a marikenyos,so i know what the phenomenon he done to our city…a cleanest,discipline,worldclass ,peacefully livelihood place.6yrs pa lang po ang mmda,pero ang dami nang magagandang accomplistment,na talaga nmang napakaepektibo.!!pasasaan pa’t makikita nila ang ginhawa ng magandang pagbabago ng metro manila,suportahan lng natin si(BF)at ipagdasal pa sa kanyang mga magagandang layunin sa bayan.sa mga honorable mayor ng metro manila…suportahan nlang po natin si chairman bayani fernando…magkaisa po kyo para rin nman sa ikakabubuti ng lahat.magtulungan, na para bang isang team ng liga…at sa bandang huli ay makukuha rin natin ang kampeonato…at makagrandslam pa diba?tigilan na po natin ang erehan,ang inggit,pagkamatigas ang ulo,iwasan na natin mag utak talangka…maging positibo!!!wag natin ibaba ang isang taong sa tingin natin ay maganda at malinis sa kanyang hangarin,alam natin na hindi sya ganun kasikat sa pilipinas pero nakita nman natin ang dedikasyon nya,umikot man sya sa buong pinas,makita ko man ang sticker nya ang tarpaulin poster nya,marami mang kumastigo at kumontra!!!wala akong pakialam!!!no big deal…dapat lang para mas lalong makilala at sumikat pa sya sa buong pinas,kung sa ikakaganda’t at pagunlad nman ng pilipinas ang hangarin nya.bakit hindi?sa ngyn kailangan ng pinas ang (BF)bagong fresidente,bagong finuno,bagong filipino,bagong fatakaran,bagong filipinas…IN BF WILL…IN GODS WILL…

I don’t mean to offend you but I think your almost iconoclastic image of BF is comparable to how “some people” look at Ferdinand Marcos. I can agree he did some good things but his methods are somewhat questionable and that is also your responsibility in the first place rather than following dead on blindly just because you think it’s right. another thing being positive doesn’t mean being quiet and a follower.

Bayani Fernando agreed to join the Celebrity Duets and dont wonder if he donate half of his prize to the Caritas. 4. While Ping Lacson is being haunted by the public in the Kuratong and Dacer cases…. BAYANI FERNANDO will look at you straight in the eye and say in a charming Marikina accent na”wala pa syang pinapapatay sa buong buhay nya maski sino”.
5. While Loren Legarda is marrying a married man now accused of murder, BAYANI FERNANDO has been a loyal husband to Marikina Mayor Marides Carlos Fernando (daughter of the old rich industrialist Meneleo Carlos) and a doting father to his only child Tala Fernando.
6. “MAREA FROM Heaven” was dominating the political grapevine when GMA 7 featured the MAREA Marcos, Aquino, Ramos, Ejercito and Arroyo in a primetime. FROM is Fernando, Roxas, probably Osmena again and probably Magsaysay again. Then HEAVEN, which is still too mystrious to predict. Then GMA 7 invited Bayani Fernando to join the Celebrity Duets and FVR has revealed a “slip of the tongue” in an speaking engagement that the next president is a bayani (hero) and a pink panther which of course he clarified the next day…the usual psywar charm of the dear FVR.
7. Then there was a talk that Noli de Castro accepted a “downpayment’ for him to run for reelection as VP, and not as President.
8.. Then the “C5 at Taga” scandal which effectively cut down Money Villar to a money making businessman masquerading as a public servant.
9. Then people are printing BAYANI FERNANDO stickers and paste them in their cars….and reports have it that this BAYANI FERNANDO stickers and poster are sprouting all over the country.
What is really MAREA FROM HEAVEN? It is the mysterious spirit that put an ordinary housewife, a lowly paid professional soldier and a college drop out into the Philippine presidency…(But hey, the Atheist group of UP Diliman is promoting the MAREA DeVil Team..whatever that is….)
Well, all said, the direction is pointing to BAYANI FERNANDO becoming the next president….the script is FROM HEAVEN…..”

No person, even Bayani F. Fernando, is perfect. But count the good works and actions he has done as MMDA Chairman against the ‘bad actions’…there is more of the good actions. Other trapos in the government does more bad actions and no good results. Which do you prefer now? Tip the balance scale and see the proofs of the man. We have to be realistic in living in a real world. It will be 2010 for BAYANI F. FERNANDO as the best presidential candidate. MABUHAY ANG PILIPINAS! MABUHAY SI BAYANI FERNANDO!
It is the character of a man that is important in public office. Not the man. Who? Mr. BAYANI F. FERNANDO has the good character. Let us support him as we will be supporting ourselves too! Unite for him. For the sake of our country. Don’t let this opportunity pass as it may never come back again.
