I don’t get it.
I just don’t get it.

When I was In high school if you wear rubber slippers in school you are considered part of the lower class, then came havaianas and the rest is history.  At first you wouldn’t imagine having a rubber slippers being renamed to flip-flops just so it would sound more acceptable to higher classes ergo wearable.  Not to mention the price which one could almost pay a boat fare to another island, I just find it inconceivable.

Then came the advent of the lomo cameras, which instantly makes one an artist just because the pictures don’t look as natural compared to those that are taken with an ordinary camera.  Now all of a sudden everybody wants to have a lomo and they become artists.

I don’t buy it.

I don’t think just because you can appreciate art you become an artist nonetheless they are right when they argue that everyone has to start somewhere.  But the funny thing is how much things of fashion changes everyones mindset from the anathema to the norm and the norm to a social status.

As for them lomo/lsr artists perhaps I just grew tired of finding or looking at pictures that are legit pics from professionals and overnight-just-because-I-bought-a-camera-I’m-an-artist that I find myself doubting if what I’m staring at makes sense anymore.

Come to think of it just because you can make pizza makes you a chef in shakeys or pizza hut right?

But theres a good side to all of this. People are starting to appreciate art and what privilege or fortune has to offer them.  They start to dream and not just be content to what they have that they aspire for greater things.

For the rubber slippers they become more creative that even fake ones appear from “havaianas” to “havanas” just so the lower class can have a taste of a missed letter of a social status brand of footwear.

It just makes me laugh altogether how expensive one status symbol could be so society can appreciate ones footwear.
