Into the Wild:Dissecting Chris McCandless

I take time off from my meanderings as I contemplate further on the truth expressed in the film “Into the Wild”.

For those who want to know more about the movie or would want to learn about the movie I suggest you watch it rather than learn of it from me in this website.

I strongly believe that the movie deserves that kind of affection. yes you read it right its not attention rather affection.

Affection because the movie speaks of such and yearns for one in the positive yet tragic sense.

The film is about Christopher McCandless a brilliant young man that in his search for happiness he chose to live the life of a person void of any material wealth and instead chose to venture out into the world cutting off all his past and never thinking about his future [not another spoiler though ]

Anyway what strike me the most in the movie other than his brilliant mind and keen sense of humor no matter how cynical his viewpoint is of the world, is his undying devotion to look at the simple and the absurd. Of how he looked at society as a whole being a sick landscape of human contradictions.

I can’t blame him he has a mind of a 22 years old I can only see myself and the way I ranted before when I was his age. Though theres another thing that I can’t fail to notice and this is his seeming penchant for the word freedom and truth.

I understand that if he were alive today he would realize that neither of the two are achievable. That in some way or the other there will always be unavoidable truths and controlled freedoms.

I can say that running away from his past and living his life in the hands of mother nature is just missing the point of the essence of his existence.

But I can’t blame him. He with his philosophy and psychology has every right to extinguish any emotional attachment he has to society or to people as a whole.

Its just a pity.

Chris if you can read this you know what I mean and perhaps someday we could really meet face to face and you can tell me the real reason why you left.

But for now wherever you are I pray that you are at peace.
