Link-building is very important when it comes to SEO so it is best that we go and take a closer look at how link-building is seen by the search engines and of course the king of all search engines (at least for now) “Google” or the great G.
I had a talk with a client once and we discussed the importance of a .edu and a .gov site in having backlinks from them.
For one a .edu and a .gov site no matter how much the great G refuses to admit, .edu and .gov sites are given much trust by G for the sole reason that it is really very hard to be able to get a link from these kinds of sites.
Because .edu and .gov sites have basically authoritative links in terms of credibility. Thus making it more equally important to get links coming from these sites.
But how do you look for a .edu and .gov site in the net?
There are a number of ways to do this.
One is to run the Google search ex: site:.edu inurl:blog with your targeted keywords (site:.edu inurl:blog + philippine seo) to find blogs and forums on these domains that may allow you to post comments that may include your backlinks. You can also repeat the search with .gov parameters and make a target list for commenting purposes.
Second is to run the Google search ex: site:.edu and site:.gov with your targeted keywords (site:.edu and site:.gov + philippine seo) to create a target list of .edu and .gov websites to get potential links from.
Third try to participate in .gov and .edu forums and give relevant content. Once you’ve established your credibility, you may occasionally have a link back to your site if you’ve got a resource relevant to the topic of conversation.
And lastly try to offer unique and free content to these .edu and .gov blogs/sites in exchange for a back link.
Your main goal is to create resources that would validate a specific professor’s perspective. Then email them a link to your site.
Try looking for personal webpages of professors at different universities, if one tends to link out to a lot of other resources then chances are you’ll have your link approved.
The bottom line is always create well researched content for you never know when these professors might just use it for their classes and have your link as a resource for their studies.
Just a final note though, remember to be very careful and not to overdo it.
