There is this thing that I usually do when I get hold of a 200 peso bill.
I draw horns and a tail and write the words “EVIL” on the picture of GMA being sworn to office in EDSA 2.
I say to myself the hell, whenever somebody would read this it will give them something to talk about or perhaps ask themselves why somebody placed this.
Call it my own way of protesting against the government.
The rationale behind it is simple, I’d like to let the people know that the person in the money doesn’t deserve to be in it. As I see it the money was used for propaganda and it is a symbolic approach to power in the hands of everybody.
Call me a semiotics fan but there is power when it comes to symbols. A professor friend of mine who handles Anthropology in U.P. told me how important symbols are in the development of culture and language.
As such a peoples clamor for change for example in EDSA 1 was triggered by the symbol L for laban as well as the color yellow.
In terms of psychology, symbols in commercials are approached scientifically to come about recall, followed by a jingle or a song.
This movement that I call “OPLAN EVIL 200″ is my only way to get back at somebody who’d been destroying our democracy and selling it to the Chinese.
For all its worth I don’t think GMA deserves to be in the 200 peso bill.
I don’t know the dynamics on how the central bank decides on what to place on any bill or how they place it. But for all I care I’d never want the face of somebody blatanly stealing my hard earned taxes and my country’s votes on something I’m going to spend.
So now ladies and gentlemen instead of placing shades on the face of Emilio Aguinaldo (which by the way I always see back then) and placing a scar on the left cheek of Manuel Quezon, let us do this systematically and scientifically.
Hell, if GMA and her cohorts doesn’t want to listen to our cries and if GMA and her supporters don’t give a damn to this country then help me God I’m going to place as much evil to those 200 peso bills.
